HP MTBE
Methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) is an organic compound, a volatile, flammable and colourless liquid, slightly soluble in water.
PURIFIED MTBE USE:
Fuel component, octane booster, used as an industrial solvent.
HAZARD LEVEL:
Substance suitable for fire suppression: CO2, extinguishing powder, alcohol-resistant fire foam. Cannot be extinguished with water. Hazardous decomposition products are carbon dioxide; in the case of incomplete combustion, carbon monoxide. Its vapours are heavier than air, and form an explosive mixture when mixed with air.
Prevent build-up of electrostatic charges. Do not stay in the danger zone without proper protective clothing resistant to chemical attack and isolation respirators. Harmful to health by inhalation and in contact with skin.
